Job summary

BDO USA, LLP is seeking a Tax Experienced Senior in Core Tax Services in California to manage client tax compliance, research, and provision workpapers. You will supervise associates, ensure deadlines, and communicate with clients while applying tax knowledge and Firm policies.

The role emphasizes planning, risk assessment, and collaboration with Assurance counterparts, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to complex tax strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics OR Bachelor's degree in other focus area and CPA certification required (or Authorization to Test for the CPA exam, or equivalent documentation, prior to start date in your state of employment)
• Master's in accountancy or taxation, preferred
• Three (3) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, preferred
• Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty, preferred
• Prior basic supervisory experience, preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists client compliance with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens
• Manages tax projects by planning the tax process and procedures with quality
• Answers preparer questions and coordinates engagement from onset by communicating expectations
• Reviews returns and prepares notes for preparers; raises potential tax issues
• Identifies book-to-tax differences
• Prepares provision workpapers and discusses with team members
• Drafts tax provision memorandums
• Mentions ASC 740, FIN 48 and related disclosures
• Mentors Core Tax Services Associates
• Identifies consulting opportunities to reduce client's tax liability
• Documents significant tax positions and archives documentation
