Job summary

Oracle in Reston, VA seeks a senior engineer to design, implement and optimize components of distributed systems with a focus on scalability, resiliency and operability. You will deliver features, run load/performance tests and build fault-tolerant paths with retry, circuit breakers and timeouts.

You will collaborate to monitor health via dashboards and telemetry, write runbooks, participate in incident response and implement IaC for automation and secure, compliant cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience designing distributed systems with emphasis on scalability and reliability.
• Proven ability to build fault-tolerant architectures and drive reliability improvements.
• Experience creating runbooks and participating in incident response and RCAs.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Architecture - System Scalability: Design and optimize components to support horizontal and vertical scaling, leveraging distributed state management.
• System Design & Architecture - System Reliability Design: Implement redundancy, replication, and automatic failover; apply recovery-oriented principles.
• System Design & Architecture - System Reliability Performance: Build dashboards and telemetry to monitor health; configure alarms and runbooks.
• Operational Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Diagnose and resolve issues; contribute to incident responses and root cause analysis.
• Automation & Change Management: Maintain IaC scripts for cloud infra, follow change management processes.
