Job summary

Magna Electronics in Michigan is seeking a seasoned Core Buyer to support BoM cost development and sourcing execution for platform projects. You will work closely with your dedicated product area, the Senior Core Buyer, and participate in project meetings while supporting RFQ inputs within your area.

You will join a global team and collaborate with Category, Component Development and Supplier Quality to drive cost savings and supplier relations, contributing to strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related.

Responsibilities

• Generates, distributes and follows up on RFQs per Global Purchasing Procedure.
• Supports quote process for customer RFQs and works with strategic Purchasing at early stages of program definition.
• Evaluates/consolidates quotes from Category Managers for strategic commodities.
• Supports quote reviews as required.
• Supports sourcing decision processes.
• Analyzes new trends in technology and market with commodity teams.
• Participates in quote and engineering team meetings during the quote phase and forwards status and issues to the purchasing team.
• Tracks cost model for purchased components and materials for pre-development programs.
• Assists in negotiating best possible prices.
• Maintains supplier relationships and renegotiates cost savings with current/new suppliers.
• Collaborates with peers to implement consistent policies and reporting.
• Participates in continuous improvement efforts for products, tools, processes and programs.
