Job summary

Magna International seeks a seasoned Purchasing professional to help develop and implement commodity strategies across Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting. You will manage RFQs, optimize supplier base, and lead long-term agreements within a global procurement framework.

The role requires 3–5 years in purchasing, experience with automotive suppliers, and travel up to 20%. You will work within Magna’s Global Purchasing Organization to drive cost savings and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' progressive experience in Purchasing field preferably in an automotive / manufacturing environment.
• Previous commodity experience including but not limited to electronics (PCB Assemblies and components)
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time
• Perform tasks and responsibilities detailed in Magna’s IATF16949 policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with Magna’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Must have demonstrated success in satisfying OEM’s and Tier 1 suppliers in a complex, competitive automotive market.
• Functional experience in areas of strategic planning, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain management and supplier quality.
• Experience with manufacturing best practices and continuous improvement.
• Knowledgeable in the areas of logistics, business quoting and launch processes, industry best practices, standards and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement commodity strategies in assigned commodity(ies) (technology, footprint, quality, economics, supply base reduction / consolidation, etc.).
• Lead supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms.
• Manage supplier relationships through regular business roadmap reviews and disciplined contract management.
• Coordinate supplier development, consolidation, and reduction programs/suppliers.
• Develop and execute divisional cost savings initiatives & risk mitigation strategies on existing business.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or related discipline
