Job summary

Cardinal Health in East Hartford, CT is seeking an Inventory Management professional to oversee materials handling and product distribution within a distribution/manufacturing setting. The role covers warehousing, fulfillment, demand planning, and the development of stocking optimization to minimize costs while meeting service levels.

You will forecast inventory based on demand and orders, manage replenishments and MOs, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • 2-4 years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or supply chain environment preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP, MRP, WMS, or other inventory management systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting, audits, reconciliations, inventory adjustments, and ongoing inventory control activities.
  • Receive inbound materials and customer-supplied inventory; verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips, validate product data, and release inventory for operational use.
  • Release and manage Manufacturing Orders (MOs), review allocations, monitor material availability, and support production schedules to ensure timely order completion.
  • Develop forecasts of inventory based on customer demand, orders, and shipment speeds of various products and manufacturers.
  • Create and process inventory replenishment requests and purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure product availability.
  • Monitor inventory transactions, including transfers, rework orders, returns, quarantined inventory, and material movements, ensuring accurate system records.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, quality concerns, expired inventory, and other exceptions, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Generate and maintain inventory, customer, and operational reports; analyze inventory performance, aging inventory, product velocity, and key inventory metrics.
  • Support warehouse operations through picking, packing, receiving, and inventory verification activities while ensuring compliance with established inventory procedures.
  • Utilize ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications to maintain accurate inventory records, support reporting, and drive continuous process improvements.

Job Overview

What Inventory Management contributes to Cardinal Health Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning. Inventory Management is accountable for the design and execution of demand planning and customer forecasting systems, supply planning, product deployment and expediting processes, and the development and implementation of a stocking optimization model to minimize costs and inventory while delivering on service requirements.

Pay & Benefits

Anticipated hourly range: $21.50 per hour - $33.00 per hour
