Job summary

Expeditors is seeking a Senior Customs Brokerage Agent to manage a diverse portfolio of import brokerage accounts and serve as a trusted advisor on customs regulations and brokerage operations.

You will mentor junior staff, partner with Compliance and Operations, and drive process improvements to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clearance for our U.S. customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive U.S. Customs Brokerage experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, customs clearance processes, and brokerage operations.
• Experience managing customer accounts and serving as a primary customer point of contact.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience handling complex brokerage transactions and working cross-functionally with Operations and Compliance teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of import brokerage accounts ranging in size and complexity.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer brokerage operations, compliance requirements, and service-related issues.
• Support onboarding and implementation of new brokerage accounts.
• Communicate directly with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) regarding holds, examinations, releases, and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and train Customer Service Representatives on brokerage procedures, compliance requirements, and customer service best practices.
• Partner with internal teams to improve processes, enhance data quality, and increase operational efficiency.
• Maintain SOPs, rate schedules, process documentation, and account-specific work instructions.
• Support timely resolution of debits, credits, and other account-related financial activities.
• Serve as a resource for troubleshooting complex brokerage transactions and customer issues.

As a Senior Customs Brokerage Agent, you'll serve as a key operational and technical resource within Expeditors' U.S. Import Brokerage team. You'll manage a portfolio of import brokerage accounts, act as a trusted advisor to customers, and provide expertise on customs regulations, compliance requirements, and brokerage operations. This role combines customer account management, customs brokerage expertise, mentoring, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of import brokerage accounts ranging in size and complexity
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer brokerage operations, compliance requirements, and service-related issues
• Support onboarding and implementation of new brokerage accounts
• Communicate directly with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) regarding holds, examinations, releases, and regulatory requirements
• Act as a liaison between Compliance and Operations teams, translating regulatory requirements into operational processes
• Mentor and train Customer Service Representatives on brokerage procedures, compliance requirements, and customer service best practices
• Partner with internal teams to improve processes, enhance data quality, and increase operational efficiency
• Maintain SOPs, rate schedules, process documentation, and account-specific work instructions
• Support timely resolution of debits, credits, and other account-related financial activities
• Serve as a resource for troubleshooting complex brokerage transactions and customer issues

Pay Range: $90,000/yr - $104,000/yr USD

Benefits packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
