Job summary

Sargent Aerospace & Defense seeks a Conventional Machinist III at RBC Bearings Incorporated in Tucson, AZ. This role supports the conventional machine shop, leading with safety and quality in a high-precision aerospace environment.

The ideal candidate has extensive lathe, mill, and surface grinder experience, plus CNC familiarity and ability to train others. ITAR/EAR compliance and a solid math foundation are required for success in this team.

Qualifications

• 7 years’ experience in conventional lathe, mill, centerless grinder, ID hone and surface grinder.
• 5 years’ experience in CNC mill and lathe operation and basic programming.
• Experience in tool making and self-directed processing for tool build.
• Application of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics (algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
• Ability to read, interpret technical drawings, routers, work instructions and specifications.
• Advanced measurement skills for inspection.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability and willingness to train other personnel.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with tight tolerance aerospace components.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials and machine tool selection.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to train and help others.
• Must hold a Sargent Designated Quality Inspection (DQI) authority or have the prerequisite skills (drawing comprehension, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and inspection methodology) to become qualified within 6 months of hire.

• Produce and inspect parts with the ability to offer continuous improvement opportunities
• Deburr precision components and tooling to proper specifications.
• Provide direction and assist others with process practices and issues
