Citi in Irving, TX is seeking a Senior Engineer - Controls Technology to architect and build the next generation of platforms for its core Controls Technology area. You will be a hands-on voice in architecture, driving innovation and ensuring engineering practices meet high standards of quality.

Responsibilities include guiding technical direction for scalable microservices, integrating AI-powered tooling, building robust APIs to connect firm-wide control systems, and collaborating with frontend

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Experience with Java/Spring Boot or modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular).
• Strong containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and cloud-native apps.
• Experience leading technical projects or as a tech lead.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
• Understanding of software architecture, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience in Financial Services or large global environment desirable.
• Familiarity with React/Angular is a plus.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Guide technical direction and design of scalable, containerized Java Spring Boot microservices.
• Pilot and integrate AI-powered development tools to accelerate velocity.
• Design robust APIs to connect platforms with control systems across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to shape MFE experiences using React/Angular.
• Lead backend development with Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud.
• Architect microservices with focus on scalability, reliability, performance.
• Apply TDD and test-first development practices across all stages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features.
• Integrate Oracle and MongoDB with high performance environments.
• Implement data access with Hibernate/JPA and Redis caching.
