Job summary

Jobtailor in Missouri seeks a seasoned Controls Engineer to translate product and system needs into robust control solutions and to design architectures for mechatronic systems, including remote monitoring and diagnostics. You will guide platform and device selection to ensure modular, scalable performance.

You will lead PLC programming using ABB Automation Builder, Allen-Bradley, CODESYS, and Unitronics, validate systems, document designs, and collaborate across engineering teams and suppliers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics or related field.
• Experience in Control Systems, Mechatronic Product Development, or related industrial tech.
• Proven success taking concepts to prototypes, testing and validation.
• Strong PLC programming and controls logic development skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Translate product and system needs into clear control requirements and solutions.
• Develop controls architecture for mechatronic systems, including remote monitoring.
• Complete platform and device selection to meet modularity and scalability needs.
• Execute integration of electrical, mechanical, and controls components.
• Create, edit, and maintain control programs using PLC tools referenced.
• Perform validation planning, system testing, and troubleshooting.
• Improve controls functionality and enhance integration with diagnostics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet technical and schedule goals.
• Contribute to design requirements, development docs, validation records and reviews.
