Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer for a world-class manufacturer near Oneida, NY. Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, sizing and selecting VFDs, motors, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs, with approximately 30% travel for installation and commissioning.

Candidates should have an AAS or BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience, plus experience with PLCs, HMIs, and AutoCAD, and NEC/machine safety familiarity. US work authorization required.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards.
• US work authorization without restriction.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (≈30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including diagnostics and real-time issue resolution.
• Diagnose control system issues, modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.
