Job summary

Thermo Systems in Sparks, NV is seeking a Controls Engineer III to lead design, integration, and commissioning of industrial automation projects. You will guide tasks on mid-sized projects, while applying strong knowledge of PLCs, HMI, and electrical schematics.

This onsite role offers competitive compensation ($90k-$120k) with annual bonus eligibility, robust benefits, and opportunities to mentor junior engineers and advance into senior leadership on complex, field-based assignments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
Typically 4+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or system integration environments.
Demonstrated experience leading engineering tasks or small project scopes.

Responsibilities

Lead start-up and commissioning of control systems.
Lead and perform FATs for automation systems.
Interpret P&IDs, electrical wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.
Develop and implement PLC and HMI-based automation solutions.
Review technical documentation for accuracy and quality.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project execution.
