Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Norristown, PA is seeking a Controls Engineer to own automation projects from concept to commissioning. You will design, develop, and document control systems across PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and MES platforms to improve quality, throughput, and energy efficiency.

You will lead project teams, interact with customers, and collaborate with PMs, SMEs, and leadership to ensure on-spec delivery. The role requires strong communication and willingness to travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience with control systems in manufacturing industries.
• Hands-on experience configuring PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and/or MES applications.
• Solid understanding of process control or other manufacturing processes.
• Track record of delivering automation projects to successful completion.
• Ability to manage and execute a project through its full lifecycle.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office and standard business software.
• Professional, positive demeanor with a flexible, cooperative working style.
• Willingness to work off-hours when required.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to complete drug and background screening.

Responsibilities

• Plant-wide control system projects in chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
• Automation upgrades for industrial gases and batch/continuous processes.
• Controls for discrete manufactured products and related systems.
• PLC-based machine and process control systems.
• HMI and SCADA visualizations and operator interfaces.
• DCS and MES applications supporting production operations.
• Energy efficiency and competitive improvement initiatives.
• Customer-facing solution design and presentations.
• Design and development of control systems to meet customer requirements.
• Document automation solutions for internal and external use.
• Lead project teams to deliver high-quality, on-spec control projects.
• Communicate with customers on-site and in the office to present work.
• Collaborate with customers to create fit-for-purpose automation solutions.
• Travel to manufacturing sites to implement and test deliverables.
• Regularly meet with project managers and SMEs to assess status.
• Mentor engineers on control concepts and methodologies.
• Carry projects from concept to commissioning.
