Job summary

Amsted Rail, a division of Amsted Industries, located in Granite City, IL, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead automation and maintenance efforts on electrical control systems. The role is onsite and involves hands-on PLC/robotics programming, HMI development, and driving process improvements, with opportunities to contribute to design standards and documentation.

The base salary ranges from $80,000 to $130,000 plus a competitive bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

8+ years of electrical controls engineering experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering.
Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Successful project designs and implementations.
Hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Ability to work with Software and Hardware of Allen Bradley PLC systems such as SLC-5/05, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix processors. Develop new programs and continuously improve existing using company standards.
Ability to work with IRC5 and S4C+ ABB Robotic systems, new control programming and continuous improvement of existing.
Ability to work with Vacon AC Drives, Allen Bradley Powerflex 400, 750 and 755 AC Drives, as well as forward / reversing two speed starters and contactors.
Ability to develop and maintain HMI systems such as Allen Bradley Panelviews and Wonderware MES.
Knowledge of various communication protocols such as Ethernet I/P, Remote IO, and Modbus TCP/IP.
Provide continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and equipment.
Assures maximum reliability of equipment.
Provides engineering support to operations in troubleshooting, rebuilding and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, and automated systems.
Follow company design standards while integrating automation including PLC, Robotics, HMI and data collection systems.
Creates and maintains documentation of processes and operating procedures.
