Job summary

Magna Powertrain seeks a skilled electrical controls engineer to lead installations, upgrades, and continuous improvements in our automotive manufacturing environment in Michigan. You will read, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens), work with robotics (ABB, Fanuc), and design electrical schematics to improve equipment reliability.

Responsibilities include developing real-time safety checks, supporting Factory 4.0, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology certification or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley and Siemens).

Responsibilities

Plan and execute new installations, upgrades, and continuous improvements with internal and external resources.
Read, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens).
Analyze plant processes and suggest improvements based on electronics, engineering, and mechanics.
Develop improvement suggestions to enhance plant performance and uptime.
Create and maintain electrical control schematics and program documentation.
Troubleshoot equipment and plant problems as they arise.
Support Factory 4.0 initiatives and maintenance programs.
Ensure safety policies and ISO/EMS compliance are followed.
