Job summary

SanMar- External seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the optimization, maintenance, and expansion of our automated wholesale distribution network. You will be the technical anchor for AMHS in high-volume facilities, ensuring peak efficiency of PLCs, HMIs, and the OT-WMS bridge.

You will design control architectures, write PLC code for Allen-Bradley and Siemens, oversee FAT and on-site startup, and train technicians.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Automation or related field.
4+ years in industrial controls engineering; 2+ years in high-volume DCs, e-commerce fulfillment, or logistics hubs.
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000/Logix or Siemens TIA Portal and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
Hands-on with barcode scanners, labeling systems, and automated weighing/dimensions checks.
Experience with AGVs/AMRs preferred.
SQL/Python or scripting to bridge PLC data to cloud preferred.
Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Collaborate on architecture of hardware/software control strategies and electrical schematics for control panels.
Develop and debug PLC code, HMIs, and SCADA; optimize PLCs and HMI/SCADA to maximize throughput.
Lead deployment of conveyors, high-speed sorters, and AS/RS; support FAT and on-site startup.
