Job description

The Senior Controls Engineer will provide team leadership in delivering automation systems across a diverse range of industries from our Albuquerque, NM office. This role requires demonstrated technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms. You will interact directly with clients to identify requirements, develop specifications, and implement, test, commission, and qualify automation solutions. As a leadership role within the business unit, this position demands strong problem-solving abilities, excellent people skills, and an aptitude for fostering business efficiency.

Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA programming
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.
  • Ability to develop control system architecture and detailed documentation
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Familiarity with programming languages like VBA, .NET, and SQL

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer
  • Experience with Rockwell and Cimplicity preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
  • Professional references from prior colleagues and managers

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science

Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Controls Engineering
  • Experience in industries such as Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas, and Mining
  • Proven track record of leading projects and teams

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required.
  2. 10+ years of Controls Engineer experience
  3. Experience with Controller programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and others.
  4. Experience with Standard programming languages such as VBA, .NET, and SQL for the development of HMI/SCADA systems.
  5. Experience with PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon.
  6. Experience with HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms such as ICONICS Genesis64, Wonderware ArchestrA System Platform, GE CIMPLICITY, GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, Schneider, and Siemens.
  7. Experience with DCS hardware/software platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or similar.
  8. Experience in the design of electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels, and associated NEC references.
  9. Experience with Field device/equipment troubleshooting.
  10. Must either be local or have ties to the area.
  11. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
