We have a Senior Electrical Engineer position available in Albuquerque, NM. This person will interact directly with customers and WM engineers and drafters to identify requirements, develop specifications, and implement/test/commission electrical solutions. The engineer researches systems ideas and draws up plans for power and control at 480 VAC and below, including instrumentation and control devices.

The engineer reviews and develops system specifications and drawing packages, conducts factory tests, and provides support during construction and commissioning, including installation, wiring, check-out, and qualification. As a Senior Engineer, they may manage a team of engineers to meet schedule requirements and ensure quality. During proposals, they develop scope of work and cost estimates, and project manage jobs of various sizes.

Ideally, the candidate has experience with PLC or DCS programming, HMI/SCADA programming, network design, and/or IT/OT equipment.

Major Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops 480 VAC systems, including motor circuits, power distribution, MCCs, and equipment specifications.
  • Designs hazardous area systems per Class I Div. 1 and Div. 2 requirements.
  • Specifies, wires, troubleshoots, and calibrates instrumentation.
  • Develops control system schematics and wiring diagrams, and designs equipment panels, providing work direction to technicians.
  • Ensures compliance with NEC and related codes.
  • Performs system checkout and start-up at customer sites.
  • Prepares final documentation and provides customer training.
  • Works on electrical and control system integration projects across industries, including life sciences.
  • Works independently with a diverse skill set; may act as Technical Lead or Project Manager, including scope development, scheduling, and cost management.
Minimum Requirements

Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent; interest in pursuing PE license supported.

Experience: 10+ years in:

  • Electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control panel specifications.
  • Design of electrical schematics with 480VAC and below.
  • Installation, checkout, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC and hazardous area requirements.
  • Construction, maintenance, and testing activities.
  • Documentation using CAD, Excel, etc.
  • Reviewing fabrication drawings and providing cost estimates.
  • Monitoring project delivery within budget and schedule.
  • Industries such as Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Mining.
  • Strong communication skills; PLC programming and AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including potential daily commute to Boulder, CO.
