Job Purpose

The Senior Controls Engineer applies control theory to design equipment and systems within manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

1. Install and support PLC, HMI, safety, servo, and vision hardware/software (e.g., RSLogix 500/5000, Siemens, AVIX View, FT View Studio, SICK).
2. Possess machine vision knowledge (Keyence, Cognex, Datalogic).
3. Determine appropriate electrical component sizes for PLC or PC-based systems.
4. Maintain knowledge of HMI devices.
5. Design and modify PLC controls for manufacturing equipment.
6. Lead electrical assembly activities, including panel fabrication and wiring.
7. Evaluate and approve new electrical and PLC programs for accuracy and documentation.
8. Assist troubleshooting of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine malfunctions.
9. Interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot wiring circuits.
10. Develop and maintain electrical schematics and drawings in AutoCAD.
11. Troubleshoot relay logic control panels, including field repairs.
12. Work with multiple phase electrical systems and electrical distribution systems.
13. Integrate third-party equipment and peripherals.
14. Collaborate with Process and Maintenance Engineers to ensure robust processes.
15. Work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ethernet networking (preferred).
• Experience with Fanuc robotics troubleshooting/programming (preferred).
• Experience with Allen Bradley troubleshooting/programming (preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Engineering Technology with 3+ years manufacturing experience, or 5+ years Controls experience in manufacturing.
