TRC Talent Solutions is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a premier manufacturing client in the refrigeration and thermodynamics space. This role blends R&D with plant support and field service, including occasional travel to customer sites to assist with commissioning and optimization.

You will design from scratch, configure controllers, and improve legacy systems while collaborating across engineering disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

TRC Talent Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a high-impact, direct-hire opportunity with one of our premier manufacturing clients. If you are tired of working on the same standard manufacturing conveyors and want to transition into New Product Development (NPD) where you are building control systems for thermodynamics and commercial refrigeration from the ground up, this is the role for you.

This hiring manager is highly technical, moves incredibly fast (decisions are often made immediately after the onsite tour), and is willing to offer significant flexibility for the right candidate. While local to Conyers, GA is preferred, the manager is open to remote/hybrid arrangements (e.g., flying in once every 4 weeks) or offering a $10,000 relocation bonus for East Coast/Southeast rockstars.

The Role: Senior Controls Engineer

This is not your typical plant-floor PLC maintenance role. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be a hybrid architect, splitting your time across three critical areas:

• R&D / New Product Development: Writing code from scratch for brand-new commercial refrigeration equipment and controllers.

• Plant Support: Completing set point files for equipment controllers, configuring controllers to manage specific equipment, and looking at existing control systems to identify process improvements.

• Field & Customer Support: Occasionally traveling (up to 25%) to customer sites or other plants to support the field service team with commissioning, startups, and answering complex customer controls questions.

Core Qualifications

• Experience & Education:

  • 7+ years of controls engineering experience (if no degree, starting in manufacturing and working your way up is highly respected).

  • OR 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree.

  • OR 3+ years of experience with a Master's Degree (Note: If falling into the 3-5 year range, direct refrigeration controls experience is heavily required).

• Technical Expertise: Strong background in PLC programming and controls development from scratch.

• Platform Knowledge: Direct experience with Copeland (E2/E3) or Danfoss controllers is highly preferred. However, if you are an expert in standard PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and possess a baseline understanding of thermodynamics and refrigeration systems, the manager is fully willing to cross-train you.

• Soft Skills: Curious, highly analytical, and driven by continuous improvement. You must be able to look at a legacy system and instantly see how it can be optimized.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: Up to $130,000 - $140,000 (Dependent on Experience).

• Bonus: 5% Annual Incentive Bonus.

• Sign-On / Relocation: Highly creative offers available for the right candidate, including potential sign-on bonuses, $10K relocation offsets, or extra vacation time.
