Job summary
Micro Instrument Corp is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to design and integrate controls for automation equipment and tooling. You will collaborate with applications, mechanical engineering, and project management to meet customer specifications and assist in quoting during the design phase.
The role requires travel to customer sites, proficiency with AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and experience with PLCs and HMI systems.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Engineering or related discipline; BSEE preferred.
- 5+ years in the automation industry; travel to customer sites may be required.
- Proficient in design/drafting tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks Viewer).
- Experience developing software for PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Experience configuring/designing HMI/OIT systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, NI, Maple Systems).
- Familiar with NEC, NFPA, UL, CE; vision systems and motion controllers; robotic systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop control schematics in AutoCAD (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
- Interpret mechanical drawings to ensure correct controls hardware is used.
- Research supplier components to improve future machine builds.
- Develop BOMs for electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems.
- Power electrical systems and configure hardware per specs.
- Collaborate with controls/mechanical technicians and engineers.
- Develop software for equipment operation to meet specs and testing.
