Job summary

Monterra Halden, LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the quality of accounting output for a portfolio of US-based clients. This remote role emphasizes accuracy, judgment, and proactive issue identification in a fast-growing, advisory-focused firm.

You will review monthly financials, explain variances, and push back on incomplete inputs while managing deadlines and client expectations. A CPA is helpful but not required, and prior US client experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in accounting, audit, or controllership roles.
• Experience reviewing others’ work (formally or informally).
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and financial statements.
• Exposure to multi-entity or operational businesses.
• Comfort working with US-based clients and teams.
• Excellent written English (clear, direct, professional).
• CPA or similar designation very helpful but not required.
• Customer-facing experience with service mindset.
• Problem solver with accountability.
• Experience creating budgets, cash-flow projections and consolidations.

Responsibilities

• Own the quality of accounting output for a portfolio of US-based clients.
• Reviewing monthly financials for internal consistency and accuracy.
• Identifying misclassifications, timing issues, and missing accruals.
• Flagging issues before they reach senior review and explaining variances clearly.
• Pushing back on incomplete or incorrect client inputs and ensuring deadlines.
• Prepare year-end financial statements and present to clients.
• Assist onboarding new clients by cleaning up messy books.
• Support virtual CFO services like budgeting, cash flow projections, KPI reports.
