Job summary

AE Landscape Borders is seeking a senior Controller to close books quickly, build a scalable finance function, and partner with leadership to defend unit economics as the company grows from $20M to $100M in revenue.

Based in Nashville, this role oversees multi-state accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax coordination, and the development of an in-house team. You’ll report to the CEO and drive strategic financial decisions.

Qualifications

• Progressive accounting experience including controller roles.
• Multi-location closed-books experience with distributed branches.
• Job costing fluency in construction/field services.
• Experience with financial diligence or reporting packages.
• Record of compressing a close cycle.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems proficiency.
• Ability to lead as the sole in-house accountant.

Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounting for a multi-entity, multi-state, seven-location business.
• Month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, and calendar management.
• Job costing, WIP, and margin analysis by crew/branch/region.
• Cash management, forecasting, and working capital.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with leadership.
• Multi-state tax coordination and compliance.
• Internal controls, policies, and process documentation.
• Systems integrations and the reporting layer.
• Collaboration with external CPA firm on tax/advisory.
• Build and lead the accounting team as we grow.
