Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Senior Controller for a large real estate and mortgage services organization. The role leads accounting, payroll, and accounts payable, driving timely close and accurate reporting in a complex financial services environment.

The ideal candidate has extensive mortgage servicing finance experience, deep U.S. GAAP knowledge, investor reporting familiarity, and proven leadership. Hybrid work model with relocation not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is REQUIRED.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification is REQUIRED.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting experience is REQUIRED.
• 10+ years in a senior accounting role within mortgage servicing for financial services is REQUIRED.
• Mortgage servicing experience is REQUIRED.
• Experience managing people and leading teams is REQUIRED.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP is REQUIRED.
• Knowledge of investor reporting (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae) is REQUIRED.
• Mortgage servicing rights valuation experience is REQUIRED.
• Experience with financial audits, internal controls, and regulatory compliance is REQUIRED.
• Deep understanding of enterprise accounting systems, cash flow operations, cost structures, and FP&A is REQUIRED.
• Experience with mortgage servicing platforms and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar is REQUIRED.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills are REQUIRED.
• Strong financial reporting, analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills are REQUIRED.
• Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; or Rosemont, IL is REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise accounting, payroll, and accounts payable functions.
• Ensure timely month-end close and accurate financial reporting.
• Serve as primary liaison with external financial audit firms.
• Identify and implement accounting process optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with third-party valuation firms on mortgage servicing rights.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Oversee cash flow management.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure intercompany accounts balance and bank accounts reconciled.
• Establish and maintain controls to deter fraud.
• Manage internal reporting and disbursement reviews.
• Oversee payroll and debt reporting.
• Monitor lender covenant compliance.
• Coordinate multiple audits.
• Document management's position on U.S. GAAP matters.
• Enhance key accounting processes and controls.
• Update accounting policies and procedures.
• Serve as finance liaison with auditors/regulators.
• Develop and support accounting team growth with guidance and procedures.
• Review contracts to determine asset ownership and financial recognition.
