Job summary

Automatic Leasing Service in Richmond, VA is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting department and partner with executives to shape the finance function. You will oversee accounts payable/receivable, monthly close, and financial reporting, while coaching staff and driving process improvements to support scalable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 10+ years accounting experience; transportation/logistics background preferred.
• Experience leading accounting staff and building teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting functions: A/R, A/P, financial statements, and payroll oversight.
• Build and mentor the accounting team; create growth paths within the department.
• Establish policies, controls, and reporting systems to maximize financial returns.
• Provide cash management, reconciliation, and oversight of financial data.
• Prepare monthly P&L and balance sheets; analyze variances and suggest improvements.
• Coordinate annual budgeting and monthly budget vs. actual analysis.
• Maintain confidential data and ensure secure handling of information.
• Partner with CPA firm for compliance and reporting; manage tax and audits.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting practices and legislation.
