Job summary

Our client in Richmond, VA is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function in a hybrid work environment.

The role oversees the general ledger, close processes, internal controls, budgeting support, and compliance, partnering with senior leadership to deliver accurate financial reporting.

This is a senior position that emphasizes building processes, mentoring the accounting team, and contributing to strategic business performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required in accounting or finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll and fixed assets.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax reporting activities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff; partner with leaders to improve reporting.
