Job summary

Alchemy is seeking a Controller in New York to build and lead the end-to-end accounting function, strengthen systems and controls, and transform complex financial data into clear insights for leadership and investors.

The role requires deep technical accounting with business judgment, setting the function's direction while hands-on in a fast-moving environment across Finance, Operations, Sales, People, Engineering, and Product.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership in senior roles.
• Public accounting background with meaningful in-house operating experience at a high-growth tech company.
• Ownership of accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, consolidations, reporting, and close processes.
• Deep technical accounting knowledge applying US GAAP to complex transactions.
• Experience building scalable accounting systems, policies, and internal controls.
• Audit-readiness experience and ability to prepare for future audits with strong documentation and controls.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategy and long-term direction for the accounting function, systems, and team.
• Own routine financial operations and multi-entity/multi-currency consolidations for global operations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timeliness and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Architect and refine the accounting infrastructure using NetSuite, Orb, Zip, and Ramp.
• Develop policies, procedures, and controls for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Oversee tax planning, compliance, and coordination with internal and external partners.
• Manage relationships with external accounting firms, auditors, and tax advisors.
• Produce and present reporting to leadership, the Board, and investors.
• Collaborate across Finance, Operations, Sales, People, Engineering, and Product.
• Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team.
