Job summary

Harmony Design Group, a premier Landscape Architecture and construction firm in New Jersey and New York, seeks a seasoned Controller to join the leadership team and lead accounting, close processes, and financial strategy.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting/finance, GAAP reporting expertise, and strong Excel/ERP skills; CPA/CMA preferred. You will guide budgeting, analytics, and strategic initiatives while managing the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, Controller preferred.
• CPA/CMA preferred; GAAP financial reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and lead month-, quarter-, and year-end close.
• Deliver GAAP-compliant financial statements and KPI reporting to leadership.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, FP&A to support decisions.
• Analyze gross margin, COGS, pricing, and profitability.
• Partner with operations, sales, and leadership to improve cost efficiency.
• Manage AP, AR, billing, collections, vendor management, inventory, and insurance.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships.
• Implement internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate audits and tax filings with external firms.
• Support strategic initiatives such as expansions and ERP implementations.
• Improve accounting processes and data accuracy.
• Manage Bookkeeper and accounting staff; coach the finance team.
