Job summary

Venn Strategies, a Washington, DC-based government and public affairs firm, seeks a Senior Controller to lead daily accounting and financial operations for the firm, its subsidiaries, and client entities. You will report to the CEO and President, oversee the accounting team, and partner with management and external advisors.

This hands-on role emphasizes accurate financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, and compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred.
7–10+ years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, including hands-on Controller-level work.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting operations for Venn Strategies and client organizations, including GL, AP, AR, billing, expenses, reconciliations.
Own monthly and year-end close, journal entries, accruals, and financial statements.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes with historical results and cash projections.
Supervise a finance team of two and establish workflows, deadlines, and controls.
Monitor cash, working capital, and collections; flag material issues to management.
Coordinate with outside accountants, auditors, and payroll providers; serve as primary contact for routine accounting matters.
