Job summary

Chief of Staff KC is partnering with Kansas City area organizations on Controller opportunities across industries. We seek seasoned Controllers or Senior Accountants ready for the next step and value cross-functional collaboration and strategic financial leadership.

Responsibilities include owning the full accounting function, leading a diverse team, coordinating audits, and delivering accurate reporting and cash management. Competitive base pay, annual bonus varies, benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present to non-financial stakeholders.
• Industry experience in professional services, not-for-profit, restaurant/hospitality, or legal is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting and finance function including month-end and year-end close.
• Lead and develop a team across AP, AR, billing, collections, and general accounting.
• Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Oversee audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Prepare financial statements and executive reporting packages.
• Manage billing, collections, and cash flow according to organization.
