Liquid AI, a MIT CSAIL spinoff, seeks a Controller in the United States to own the Close, policy positions, and a scalable controls environment. You will lead technical accounting, equity compensation, tax, and audit processes while driving system automation.

The role emphasizes building infrastructure, not just reports, with SOX-ready processes and close collaboration with FP&A, Legal, and GTM Finance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience in public and private sectors, preferably at high-growth tech companies.
• CPA is required or strongly preferred.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge with depth in ASC 606 and ASC 718.
• Experience leading external audits and building SOX-compliant controls.
• Experience implementing or owning an ERP system (NetSuite) and related integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the Close: manage monthly and quarterly close end-to-end with well-documented, timely financials.
• Set Technical Accounting Positions: research and memo complex topics and ensure consistent application.
• Own Equity Compensation Accounting: manage stock comp, 409A, and cap table reconciliation.
• Architect internal controls and drive SOX readiness as the company scales.
• Own the Tax Process: manage outsourced tax vendor for income and sales/use tax.
• Lead the Annual Audit: manage external audit process end-to-end.
• Drive Systems & Automation: evaluate and optimize ERP and adjacent finance systems.
• Partner Cross-Functionally: collaborate with FP&A, Legal, and GTM Finance on terms and revenue contracts.
