Job summary

MGR Accounting Recruiters is seeking a Senior Controller to join a growing HVAC/plumbing/electrical services company in an in-office leadership role. You will oversee all accounting operations, drive month-end closes, and provide high-level financial insight for strategic decisions.

This hands-on leadership position requires deep experience in construction accounting, job costing, and project profitability, with the ability to partner with ownership and operations to shape fiscal strategy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience required.
• Experience within HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical contracting, or related trades services required.
• Proven Controller-level leadership experience and strong hands-on accounting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all accounting and financial operations.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger activities.
• Manage job costing, WIP reporting, project profitability, and financial performance.
• Oversee cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Monitor service and project revenue, expenses, and margins.
• Establish and strengthen internal controls, processes, and accounting procedures.
• Partner with ownership and operational leadership on financial strategy and business decisions.
• Lead and mentor accounting staff while remaining actively involved in daily accounting functions.

MGR Accounting Recruiters & Advisory is recruiting for a Senior-Level Controller to join a growing company in the mechanical and skilled trades services industry.

We're looking for a seasoned accounting leader who understands the financial side of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contracting businesses and enjoys being hands-on, involved, and part of the day-to-day operations.

This is a 100% in-office leadership opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Lead and manage all accounting and financial operations.

• Proven Controller-level leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and project financial management.
• Solid experience with cash flow management, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Ability to operate at both the strategic and hands-on accounting levels.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
