Golden State Foods in Conyers, GA, seeks a Senior Controller to lead the facility's accounting, reporting, and cost accounting, partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to drive profitability and working capital optimization.

You will oversee monthly closes, budgeting, forecasting, inventory accounting, and internal controls, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate financial data for division and corporate management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience overseeing accounting or finance teams.
  • Strong background in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience managing cost savings initiatives, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting in support of operational performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate responsibilities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and financial reporting tools.
  • Professional judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness when operating without fully defined procedures or guidelines.
  • Experience conducting financial analysis, capital planning, and business case development.
  • ERP experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the facility’s cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, BOM integrity, absorption costing, and manufacturing performance analysis.
  • Partners closely with Operations Management, Supply Chain, and Quality leaders to improve operational performance, productivity, and profitability.
  • Directs the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support various special projects and feasibility studies for new products, new customers, or business opportunities to meet corporate strategic objectives.
  • Oversees periodic financial reporting to ensure timely, accurate, and thorough information for division and corporate management on working capital and capital spending, and to protect company assets.
  • Provides financial leadership and analysis of key manufacturing metrics including labor efficiency, material usage, yield, waste, throughput, and conversion costs.
  • Partners with Supply Chain on inventory accounting and controls, including cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory accuracy initiatives, and excess and obsolete inventory reviews.
  • Supports capital investment decisions through financial analysis, project evaluations, post-investment reviews, and capital expenditure monitoring.
  • Develops and disseminates the annual business plan to establish performance objectives and to comply with corporate guidelines
  • Interacts with Information Technology Services to represent the finance function of the facility and to collaborate on the implementation of new applications
  • Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary

The Senior Controller serves as the senior finance leader for the manufacturing facility and a key member of the plant leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, manufacturing cost accounting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, inventory accounting, and financial planning activities. The Controller partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Corporate Finance leaders to drive operational performance, profitability, working capital optimization, and strategic decision-making.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
