Job summary

City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department seeks a Senior Control Systems and Communication Technician to lead planning, design, and implementation of SCADA, RF, and fiber‑optic telecom systems. The role covers calibration, testing, and modification of process control systems across water treatment and reclamation facilities.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree in a related field and have 2+ years in supervisory control systems with PLC programming, plus a CWEA CWEA/CIS or ISA

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience using proprietary HMI software packages and operating supervisory control systems.
• Associate degree or higher in CS/EE/Electronics/Instrumentation with 2+ years in supervisory control systems (PLC focus).
• High school diploma with 4+ years in supervisory control systems and PLC programming.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement, calibrate, test, and modify SCADA, RF, and fiber‑optic telecom systems.
• Train/oversee technicians and inspect contractor work.
• Work under general direction, may lead in absence of supervisor.
