Job summary

Centuri Construction Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced in-house counsel to support the Office of the General Counsel across business units.

The role emphasizes contract negotiation, risk assessment, and compliance for a nationwide energy infrastructure company. You will draft and negotiate agreements, review risk-shaping provisions, and collaborate with Risk Management, HSE, and business stakeholders to ensure policy alignment and legal compliance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required.
• Active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and eligibility to register as in-house counsel.
• 6+ years of practice in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience in complex contract review, drafting, and negotiation OR litigation experience in construction/engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage many matters independently.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Draft, redline, and negotiate contracts including EPC, MSAs, subcontracts, and NDAs.
• Analyze provisions affecting risk: indemnity, liability, remedies, notices, termination, disputes.
• Review prime terms and flow-down obligations to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Coordinate with Risk Management and HSE on insurance, bonding, and indemnity terms.
• Review contracts for compliance with policies and applicable law, incl. public/utility requirements.
• Maintain and expand internal contract templates and playbooks.
• Provide practical legal advice to stakeholders on contracts, risk, and compliance.
• Train non-legal personnel to identify contractual risk before signature.
• Support due diligence on acquisitions and new customers/opportunities.
• Perform legal research across jurisdictions and collaborate to improve contracting policies.
• Stay current on laws and industry developments affecting operations.
