Job summary

Praxis Precision Medicines, Inc. is seeking a senior contracts attorney to serve as the principal adviser on contracting, setting strategy, standards, and operating model for the contracting function.

You will partner across Clinical, Technical Operations, Commercial, Finance, and Procurement to protect Praxis and patients while enabling growth. You will define the end‑to‑end lifecycle, lead negotiations on high‑value agreements, and leverage AI to improve speed and quality of contracting.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA‑accredited law school with state bar admission.
• 5+ years in-house or law firm experience in biotech, pharma or life sciences.
• Expert‑level drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including clinical contracts.
• Ability to assess legal risk with business objectives and provide decisive recommendations.
• Proficiency with AI tools and interest in using tech to improve legal work.
• Experience building or maintaining a contracting function or operating model.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiator on the company’s most complex, high‑value agreements across clinical, development, manufacturing, commercial, and corporate activities.
• Define, own, and improve the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle and set the multi‑year contracting roadmap.
• Apply business judgment to contracting decisions and provide clear recommendations to move forward.
• Provide practical legal guidance to Clinical Operations during trial start‑up and execution.
• Partner with Compliance to reflect legal and regulatory requirements in templates and playbooks; identify material risk early.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Compliance, IT to assess legal, privacy, and operational risks with third parties.
• Leverage AI and other legal tech to speed up contracting and improve decision‑making.
