Hippo seeks a Contracts Attorney to draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance and program administration agreements, ensuring compliance and strategic risk mitigation. The role reports to the General Counsel and requires 4+ years in related drafting, with US-state licensing.

Qualifications

• J.D. required and licensed to practice law in the US.
• 4+ years drafting reinsurance, program administration, or related agreements.
• Ability to clearly articulate issues to multiple departments and manage regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance, program administration, and claims agreements with risk mitigation in mind.
• Create and implement processes to capture and respond to wording issues, including escalation.
• Make timely decisions after required approvals with full risk assessments.
• Understand business drivers and raise critical issues when needed, taking ownership of actions.
• Work autonomously while incorporating feedback from underwriting peers, reinsurers, and management.
• Demonstrate collegiality, efficiency, proactivity and curiosity.
• Communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Skills

Strong written and oral communication

Education

J.D. from an accredited law school or international equivalent

Licensed to practice and member in good standing / ability to reactivate in at least one US state
