Job summary

Hippo Insurance is seeking a Reinsurance Specialist for a hybrid role across Austin, Dallas, Morristown, and San Jose. You will analyze reinsurance contracts and identify trends to guide risk strategy in collaboration with Finance, Underwriting and CAT analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field.
• 3-6 years of industry experience in reinsurance, insurance carrier, or consulting.
• Foundational understanding of reinsurance, P&C insurance, operations and systems.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Analytical, technical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience leading projects and following through with execution.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Reinsurance Manager and Program Managers to support and facilitate placement of reinsurance for Hippo corporate and Spinnaker program business.
• Serve as a reinsurance subject matter expert, liaising with finance, underwriting, corporate risk, CAT modeling/analytics, claims, etc.
• Assist with drafting, review, and execution of ceded reinsurance contracts; flag discrepancies before sign-off.
• Monitor portfolio-level exposures; coordinate modeling for gross and net exposures.
• Develop and present complex ad-hoc reinsurance reports for executive management.
• Design and deliver market presentations for corporate reinsurance with brokers; show quantitative analysis.
• Coordinate with Accounting, Reinsurance Operations, and Program Managers for document review and term implementation.
• Drive the successful fulfillment of mandatory state data submissions.
• Monitor and evaluate reinsurer financial strength and participation.
