Job summary

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) seeks an Agency Attorney II to advise on procurement issues and review contracts for services and equipment. The role involves drafting, negotiating, and revising contract documents, and coordinating with the City Law Department and ACCO on contract approval and litigation.

The position requires NYS Bar admission and at least one year of legal experience after admission.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• One year of satisfactory United States legal experience after admission to any state bar; or
• Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
• Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and advise on procurements including construction contracts, goods purchases, and IT service contracts.
• Prepare legal opinions on contract and procurement issues.
• Liaise with the City Law Department and oversight offices regarding contract approval and litigation.
• Draft responsiveness and responsibility memoranda and appeals for contractors.
• Advise bureaus on contract interpretation, disputes, and claims; handle related litigation matters.
• Handle other bureau work including administrative or employment matters.
