Job description

NAPCO Media (www.napco.com), a subsidiary of PRINTING United Alliance (www.printing.org), is a fast-paced B2B media organization serving the printing, retail, and nonprofit industries. We specialize in the creation and cross-channel distribution of exceptional content on print and digital platforms such as newsletters, magazines, podcasts, social media, and events. Our mission is to build community between the audiences and clients we serve.

The Senior Content Editor oversees the daily operations of the editorial department, ensuring that content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s editorial standards and strategic goals. This role manages editorial calendars, including daily and weekly newsletters, short- and long-form research reports, peer group meetings, etc.; oversees social media content strategy; coordinates with other departments (e.g., Marketing, Events, Sales, Art) on a project-by-project basis; and ensures the publication of timely and relevant multimedia content (e.g., articles, videos, podcasts, webinars) across digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the editorial team, including assigning, editing, and reviewing content to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Oversee the editorial calendar and workflow, ensuring seamless coordination of content production and publication.
  • Collaborates with the Editor-in-Chief and senior leadership on content strategy, audience engagement, and brand voice.
  • Edit and proofread articles for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and compliance with style guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Event, Art, Production, Marketing, and Sales teams to ensure cohesive execution of editorial projects.
  • Manages social media content strategy, including content production, engagement with audiences, reporting analytics.
  • Develop content strategies to support in-person and virtual events, both internal and external (i.e., industry) events.
  • Track performance metrics (engagement, reach, readership) and adjust editorial plans as needed.
  • Represent the organization at events, both internal and external. This can include panel moderation, hosting virtual peer groups, speaking at industry events, among other speaking opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor media brands to identify new content opportunities.
  • Enforce editorial policies and best practices to maintain journalistic integrity and credibility.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to editorial staff, freelancers, and contributors.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, English, or related field
  • Five-plus years of editorial experience in the media industry, with leadership or management experience preferred
  • Strong editing, writing, organizational, and communication skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage editorial workflows and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and digital publishing tools.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, as content mediums.
  • Familiarity with content analytics platforms, including Google Analytics and Parse.ly.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Strong understanding of media trends, audience development, and cross-platform storytelling.
