Job summary

Maveneer, LLC designs and implements distribution centers and manufacturing operations in the US. As a Senior Consultant, you’ll identify the client’s real problem, then build the case for the best solution, from floor models to capital project proposals.

Expect to travel up to 50%, work remotely within the US, and lead client engagements with rigorous analysis, clear writing, and practical, data-driven recommendations.

Job description

Maveneer designs and implements distribution centers and manufacturing operations. Our clients usually come to us with a problem they’ve already tried to solve once, or one somebody else told them couldn’t be solved. We are an engineering design firm that specializes in the design and implementation of distribution center and manufacturing operations, both new and retrofit.

As a Senior Consultant, you’re the person who figures out what the client’s real problem is, then builds the case for what to do about it. It could mean walking a warehouse floor at 5 a.m. asking the pickers why nobody uses aisle 14, building a labor model, sketching a block layout on a whiteboard, or making the slide that gets a CFO comfortable signing off on a major capital project.

What you’ll be doing:

• Assessing current operations.
• Doing math.
• Building business cases.
• Leading the client.
• Presenting.
• Whatever else needs to be done.

You’ll probably fit in if you

• Would rather spend ten minutes building a quick model than an hour debating whether something is possible.
• Can say "I was wrong" without it ruining your day.
• Actually like people. You want to know why the client’s last project failed and what the maintenance tech thinks of the new conveyor.
• Teach yourself things
• Keep your own laptop running. If you need IT to fix basic computer problems, an engineering firm is going to be a rough fit.
• Don’t take yourself too seriously. Expect to get trolled a little, it means we like you.
• Prefer teammates review your model before the client sees it.

You probably won’t enjoy it here if you

• Want a role with fixed boundaries that never change.
• Think "best practices" is where the thinking stops.
• Need a big team around you to get things done. Our project teams are small and everyone carries real weight.
• Keep concerns to yourself until they turn into problems.
• Like long meetings. We end five minutes early on purpose.

What you need to bring:

• Solid mathematical aptitude. You’ll be building models, not formatting spreadsheets.
• Experience solving problems for someone else and owning the result, whether that was in consulting, operations, supply chain, engineering, or somewhere else.
• Comfort in front of a client, including when the news is bad.
• Clear writing. Our clients only see our thinking through what we write and present.
• The discipline to manage yourself while working remotely.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
