Job summary

Segal in San Francisco is seeking an experienced employee communications strategist to lead high-impact client work and grow Segal Benz’s capabilities and client relationships. You will shape AI-enabled experiences and manage engagements to deliver clear, engaging benefits information across channels.

With at least nine years in benefits/total rewards communications, you will write, present and influence diverse audiences while ensuring on-time delivery and responsible budgets.

Qualifications

Minimum 9 years of relevant experience designing and implementing employee benefits, total rewards or change management communications in a consulting firm, communications or creative agency, or HR/total rewards team.

Responsibilities

Lead client engagements from strategy through execution, delivering integrated campaigns across digital, print, video, social and in-person channels.
Shape AI-enabled and digital experiences (benefits websites, microsites, AI assistants) to help employees understand and act on information.

The Opportunity

As a trusted advisor, you will bring strategic thinking and fresh ideas to complex benefits, total rewards and change management challenges. You will also deliver meaningful results for clients.

Lead client engagements from strategy through execution, delivering integrated communication campaigns across digital, print, video, social and in-person channels.

Shape AI-enabled and digital experiences, including benefits websites, microsites and AI assistants, that help employees understand and act on information.

Manage engagement planning, scope, budgets, resources and financial performance while delivering high-quality work on time and at target profitability.

Strengthen client relationships and support practice growth by expanding engagements, identifying new opportunities and leading proposals, RFP responses and pitch presentations.

Requirements

A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience designing and implementing employee benefits, total rewards or change management communications within a consulting firm, communications or creative agency, benefits administrator, health plan, or in-house communications, HR or total rewards team.

A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Deep working knowledge of health, retirement and total rewards programs, with the ability to make complex information clear, engaging and actionable.

Hands‑on experience with digital and AI‑enabled communications, such as websites, AI assistants and generative AI tools, as well as communications measurement and analytics.

Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills, including the ability to establish credibility, build trust and influence diverse audiences at all levels.

Proven client account management and revenue‑generation experience, including supporting proposals and RFP responses and managing project budgets, staffing and engagement profitability.

Strong business acumen, project management skills and attention to detail, with proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience with Asana is a plus.

The current salary range for this position is $120,000 to $165,000, plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
