Segal is seeking a Consultant, Healthcare Informatics to join our Health Consulting & Analytics team. You will work on our Healthcare Data Informatics Digital Warehouse, delivering analytics, insights and strategic advice to clients.

The role emphasizes strong SQL, Python familiarity for modeling, and use of PowerBI/Tableau to build complex data models and reporting. Travel is up to 10%, and the position is based in New York with responsibilities across multiple locations.

Formación

• 6+ years of health & welfare/managed care experience in a consulting or professional service environment.
• Experience with provider network pricing and reimbursement analysis with a strong analytics background.
• Expertise in healthcare claims, pharmaceuticals, and clinical care regimes.
• Expert level proficiency in SQL; familiarity with Python for regression, clustering, and tree-based models.
• Proficiency in PowerBI or Tableau including building and maintaining complex data models and writing DAX/derived tables.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Consultant, Healthcare Informatics ("Consultant") for our Health Consulting & Analytics team working with our Healthcare Data Informatics Digital Warehouse. This position affords an immediate opportunity to contribute as an integral member of a project team applying analytical, problem-solving, communication and technology skills and contributing to the development of solutions to challenging client issues. The Consultant will analyze our client's healthcare data in our highly customized data warehouse and deliver strategic and innovative advice and services . They will be deeply involved in the development of analytics and insights as well as possess the technical acumen to maintain and create reporting using various mediums. The Consultant will also contribute to thought leadership, research initiatives, trend analysis and forecasting, and the revenue generating capabilities of the Company.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform as a Consultant on healthcare analytics and analyze trends, quantify impacts, and forecast clinical care impacts including through market trends, new medications, plan design, pricing, financial and regulatory compliance, and administration issues.
• Act as a technical resource on health plans and managed care issues, providing colleagues both inside and outside the practice with own perspective on relevant inquiries; and participate in training and mentoring initiatives involving junior staff.
• Collaborate with IT business partners on strategic solutions that expand the capabilities of the database.
• Contribute to the development of thought leadership that distinguishes Segal in the marketplace including trend analytics and contribute to marketing and branding efforts by building analytic tools, presentations, and other opportunities to deliver innovative consulting to our clients.
• Contribute to the professional and technical development of the practice including continually developing and expanding own expertise; researching and keeping abreast of marketplace developments and trends; importing and disseminating information and knowledge regarding best practice concepts and/or approaches; contributing to the development of skills and abilities of colleagues; proactively identifying and attracting external talent to the practice, market and Company.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of health & welfare/managed care experience within a consulting and/or professional service environment. Significant experience in provider network pricing and reimbursement analysis, along with a strong actuarial, underwriting, or quantitative analytics background.
• Corporate or insurance company experience may be acceptable provided the individual has prior consulting experience and/or knowledge and skills that are immediately transferable to consulting (i.e., large set data analytics, strategic/creative problem solving, business advisory orientation to addressing plan design/technical aspects of health & welfare and managed care plans, etc.).
• Expertise in and/or strong familiarity with healthcare claims, pharmaceuticals, and clinical care regimes and health and welfare plans and/or managed care arrangements and related issues.
• Expert level proficiency in SQL. Familiarity with Python, specifically, regression, clustering, and tree-based models, preferred.
• Proficiency in PowerBI or Tableau including building and maintaining complex data models, as well as writing complex DAX functions and derived tables. Working knowledge of PowerBI server, permissions, and architecture preferred.
• Knowledge of visual best practices and the ability to implement in PowerBI.
• Bachelor’s degree in related sciences. Graduate level degree in data science, healthcare informatics, actuarial sciences, statistics, public health, or related sciences highly preferred.
• Demonstrated skills as an effective communicator (oral/written) and the ability to analyze and distill voluminous amounts of data into concise summaries that lead to fulfilling Segal’s mission of providing trusted advice that improves lives.
• Strategic, business-partnering orientation to relationship building and collaborative work ethic.
• Ability to lead and participate in business development/marketing/recruiting initiatives.
