Job summary

Berkley Construction Solutions (BCS) is seeking a Senior Underwriter in Chicago to evaluate and underwrite excess casualty construction risks. You will mentor junior underwriters and work with brokers, agents and internal teams to optimize the company’s risk portfolio.

The role requires deep underwriting knowledge, risk analysis skills, and the ability to drive best practices across the team within Berkley’s underwriting goals and data systems.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with commercial lines product coverage forms and filings.
• Commercial underwriting leadership experience.
• Multi-line experience across Property, GL, Auto, Umbrella, WC.
• Strong data analysis to guide underwriting decisions.
• Completion of or working toward CPCU/AU or similar designations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess excess casualty construction risks.
• Mentor and support junior underwriters to ensure best practices.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents and internal stakeholders.
• Manage portfolio to optimize risk and profitability.
• Oversee underwriting product projects with management.
• Ensure marketing strategy and regulatory compliance across product lines.
