Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a professional construction worker for the Facilities Technologist role. You will perform carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and structural tasks onsite, reading drawings and ensuring work meets specifications and codes.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED with five+ years in skilled trades, valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain an DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus five or more years of directly related experience in one or more skilled construction trades; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
• Selected applicants must have a valid driver’s license when offered employment, and maintain a valid driver’s license during employment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of construction-related functions
• Read engineering drawings, blueprints, standards and specifications to install facility systems and components to specifications and code
• Demolish, install, test, and repair facility structures, systems, and components
• Understand and follow Universal Building Codes during construction
• Use and maintain tools of the trade to perform work
• Perform general facility systems or equipment maintenance or repairs as required
• Collaborate with other workers to complete projects on time and efficiently
• Follow all safety guidelines and use PPE
• Support facilities operations including safety, permitting, and space management
• Understand and adhere to Sandia and industry safety guidelines
• Ensure all materials and final products meet quality specifications
