Job summary

Clayton Homes is seeking an Estimator 3 to develop accurate material lists from architectural blueprints for residential, multi-family, and commercial construction. You will ensure lists are timely and precise, focusing on framing concepts and codes.

This role requires reading plans, performing takeoffs for framing, siding, roofing, windows, and concrete, and using takeoff software along with Microsoft Office. Collaboration and attention to detail are essential to support the Clayton team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of residential, multi-family, and commercial construction framing practices, codes, and carpentry.
• Ability to complete take offs for framing, siding, roofing, windows, and concrete.
• Willing to learn modular home take offs which include framing, interior/exterior packages.
• General computer knowledge.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with blueprint takeoff software.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
• Attention to detail, takes pride in quality of work.
• Efficient and able to complete assignments within a given deadline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Communicates effectively with team members.
• Strong team work ethic.
• Associate degree in related field preferred and at least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints
• Develops accurate material lists including quantity and type of materials to be used
• Ensures conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes, if applicable
• Interprets design requirements as indicated by procedures, design manuals, and other applicable specifications
• Generates detailed cut sheets for final construction
• Ensures material lists are accurate, optimized, and conform to standards
• Trains new associates on take-off software
• Reviews team members take-offs and bids for accuracy.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement; identifies and responds actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers; participates as a team player in all phases of the organization; and is open and responsive to change.
