Job summary

Balfour Beatty US in Richmond seeks a Senior Superintendent to lead field operations, coordinating subcontractors to complete work on time and within budget while maintaining Safety/Zero Harm standards. The role also supports budgeting, preconstruction, and scheduling activities with the project manager.

Ideal candidates will mentor field staff, ensure test results and quality compliance, and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 in supervisory roles.
• Extensive experience managing trades/sub-contractors.
• Proven success leading, mentoring, and supervising multiple Superintendents on large commercial projects.
• Mastery of field management: site activity, labor relations, scheduling, safety, and risk management.
• OSHA 30-hour certification and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations and coordinate subcontractors to ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery.
• Partner with the project manager to develop budgets and manage general conditions and buyout strategy.
• Implement and enforce Safety/Zero Harm program across the jobsite.
• Lead preconstruction planning, scope development, and bid/post-bid considerations.
• Ensure material testing and quality control per contract documents.
• Run weekly progress and safety meetings with subcontractors and owners/architects.
• Mentor and manage field personnel, and address performance issues in a constructive manner.
• Close-out activities to demobilize resources and finalize financial obligations.
