Job summary

The Ruhlin Company in Columbus, OH is seeking a Superintendent for its Building Division. This role directs field construction activities and coordinates the project staff and subcontractors to meet schedule and quality goals.

You will lead safety initiatives, manage progress against plans, and ensure compliance with drawings and specifications while mentoring staff and maintaining a harassment-free work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, or construction management, or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience in construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, and HCSS tools.

Responsibilities

• Direct field construction activities and coordinate the project staff and subcontractors.
• Create and maintain daily job reports and monitor progress.
• Provide input to cost and schedule forecasts; verify work progress and punch lists.
• Supervise methods, sequencing, staffing, materials, equipment, and schedules.
• Ensure safety, equal opportunity, and compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Participate in claims and change negotiations; maintain quality workmanship.
• Mentor project staff and coordinate with owners’ representatives.
