Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent I to coordinate site work and supervise on-site teams across multiple construction projects. You will lead safety programs, manage schedules, budgets, and crews, and interface with engineers, customers, and unions.

The role demands strong leadership, problem-solving, and a commitment to quality and compliance. The position requires 15+ years in construction with at least 10 years in supervision, a construction-related degree or equivalent

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10 years of trade experience.
• Minimum 15 years of construction experience.
• Minimum 10 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with solar or large industrial power projects.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Overall management of construction activities and task assignments.
• Interface with departments to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the schedule.
• Budget, forecast, and manage labor, equipment, materials, tools, and site environment.
• Review documents for completeness and constructability.
• Create and update project schedules and three-week look ahead.
• Coordinate with engineers, clarify discrepancies.
• Develop site utilization plan and establish crew sizes.
• Select formwork systems and equipment.
• Conduct pre-construction planning and site meetings.
• Oversee and supervise on-site crews.
• Coach, mentor and train field personnel and foremen.
• Establish teamwork and ensure resources.
• Provide work direction and performance evaluations.
• Participate in hiring decisions and career growth.
• Implement Zero Injury Safety Program on site.
• Manage open shop and union issues.
• Maintain relationships with customers, architects, unions, and subcontractors.
• Improve site work and logistics.
• Additional duties as assigned.
