Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Construction Superintendent in California to lead safety, quality, planning, and coordination across projects. You will supervise labor, manage schedules, and ensure on-time completion within budget and to client standards.

Qualifications

• The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business.
• 7+ years of construction-related experience including staff leadership and management.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to function as part of a high-performance team.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations, and building systems.
• Familiarity with strategic planning.
• Ability to work in a mobile work environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite, plus report writing apps.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safety: enforce safety policies and promote accountability on the project.
• Quality: ensure quality control on the project with company and subcontractors.
• Job Planning: develop and implement pre-job plans and material handling strategies.
• Scheduling: assist in project scheduling to align with plans.
• Mobilization: execute tasks from pre-job planning.
• Coordinate and supervise all company labor and subcontractors.
• Develop and mentor assistants, engineers, foremen, and craft personnel.
• Recruit salaried staff as needed.
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors; lead weekly foreman meetings.
• Maintain timekeeping and cost records.
• Manage vendor and subcontractor expediting and deliveries.
• Inspect received materials for quantity and quality.
