Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking an Area Superintendent to oversee a defined project area, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, quality, and personnel development. You will mentor field staff, coordinate with trade partners, and drive site‑level performance to meet project goals.

The role requires a 4‑year degree in a relevant field and 5–6 years on large commercial projects, plus strong communication and planning skills. This safety‑sensitive position offers competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 4‑year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• 5–6 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience with MS Office, Prolog, Primavera, AutoDesk tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise and mentor the company workforce in their area.
• Plan and coordinate field construction work with trade partners.
• Participate in weekly schedule and management meetings.
• Promote and enforce site safety plans and principles.
• Maintain cost and production records.
• Coordinate with project and office engineers on material needs and RFIs.
• Ensure quality control and develop site utilization plans.
• Oversee punch list and turnover processes.
• Develop relationships with owner, architect, engineer, and trade partners.
